The Project:
GPOCP works to conserve a vital population of Bornean Orangutans (Pongo pygmaeus) living in and around Gunung Palung National Park in West Kalimantan, Indonesia.
Their vision is to develop a local community that is motivated and capable of achieving conservation results and to build a culture of conservation by empowering communities living in the Gunung Palung landscape to improve their lives through sustainable livelihoods.
In combination with promoting conservation-oriented land use planning, facilitating legal forest protection and monitoring species and habitats, we will continue to build long-term conservation in the region through research and education, ensuring a future for the iconic Bornean orangutans and this ecologically rich landscape.
Our Goal:
Slothgrip is looking to raise funds to help GPOCP purchase a fire prevention kit to protect the forest area and research station in the national park from future fires.
